Cockpit Structure

The cockpit structure is made from wood. Primarily 3/4″ MDF (medium density fiberboard) and other types of wood, such as 2×4’s. It is designed to be built into 3 different 3 sections. There is the main, or center platform, which is what the front instrument panel, ejection seat, flight stick, and rudder pedals are mounted to. Then there is the left platform and right platform. These hold the left and right consoles, respectively. The canopy ring bolts to the left and right consoles in the current design, however, there is a desire to redesign the mount for the canopy ring so that it bolts to the main platform structure, allowing the left and right consoles to be pulled away from the main platform without having to unbolt the canopy ring.

Plans for the cockpit structure have not yet been made, however the FreeCAD model containing the cockpit structure is available for download here:
